Philippe Restaurant Experience

Philippe Restaurant Experience

French Cowboy dishes out scrumptious cuisine for Houstonians. Originally from Roanne, France acclaimed Houston Chef Philippe Schmit offers a sophisticated restaurant and lounge. On Post Oak Boulevard, ‘Philippe’ a fun, casual concept with beautiful interiors that will remind you of Paris and will make you think of 60s fashion, Paris and Audrey Hepburn and yet at the same time has a very modern look.

As we walk upstairs to the main dinning area the tall mirror adds a grand look. On the right there is a dinning room for exclusive parties which is definitely my favorite area in the restaurant. Not that I can deny that the bar downstairs has done an outstanding job to seduce its clients to stay and imbibe. Chef Philippe is quite aware of the tough competition around that neighborhood and therefore works hard to satisfy his customers by featuring an exciting and accessible menu of traditional and eclectic French cuisine.

My Picks: I started to enjoy my evening at Philippe with spicy duck confit tamales with sun-dried tomatoes, then for the main course I chose jack’s scallops: creamy baked scallops, root vegetables, and my friend picked duck shepherd’s pie with truffled mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, and Cognac sauce which was no doubt a delight. Do leave room for dessert, we picked jasmine crème brulée with banana ice cream with sesame butter cookie.

Everything about the place is sensual. The food the ambiance and most of all the true French gentleman, Chef Philippe. In my opinion a very high end restaurant with affordable pricing. Those who plan to celebrate Easter in style, make sure you check out their Easter brunch menu.
