Drink it up with the Mayor of Houston Annise Parker! And all for a good cause. A unique initiative driven by the Mayor and her campaign team to get the community more involved with different charity organizations.
Each week a new restaurant for happy hour and a new cause to support. Last week the party was held at the Venue in Downtown Houston to support The Indo American Charity Foundation. This week ladies flocked in business attire to mix and mingle with the Mayor at the very chic Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in the Galleria also to support The Women’s Fund.
Mayor’s Campaign Communications Director Sue Davis informed that ‘Happy Hour With A Purpose’ is not a fundraiser, but a great chance for young professionals and Houstonians of all ages to meet Mayor Parker and enjoy a glass of wine with her. “Our hosts collectively donate $1,000 and half goes to a charity,” says Sue.
Mayor Parker was her usual friendly self with her effervescent smile and punctuality. She thanked the hosts and guests and made the statement “I have opponents yes, but no competition,” announced Annise Parker.
It was a packed happy hour event with some powerful women working towards making a difference in the community and encouraging more women to be involved in politics, business, and charity. Spotted playing wonderful hosts for the evening were Event Chair Kim Padgett along with host committee Kim Chanslor, Ann Cook, Anna Bailey, Reyne Haines, Stephanie Madan, Kelli Newman, Lauren Nolasco, Mary Beth Robinson, Mini Timmaraju, Kelly Young. Also attending Amber Willis of Channel 2, Catarina Cron, Sonia Soto, Norm Nolasco, and Cyndi Garcia.
