Bibi Bridal Fashion Show

Spring Fashion Fever was in the air as Bibi Magazine’s much anticipated bridal fashion show featured designs from Bridals ‘N More, Vastra by Namrita Chettair, and Parinaz Boutique, along with jewelry and clutches provided by A.R. Designers by Arefa Virani.

The show’s stage was adorned with a gorgeous gold-embellished mandap, along with airy and dreamy ivory curtains that flowed delicately along the back end of the stage.

For the Bridals ‘N More fashion segment, models were seen wearing multicolored shalwar kameezes and traditional bridal lenghas.

The term “bridal couture” comes to mind when describing Vastra by Namrita Chettair’s collection. Her uniquely designed pieces included exquisite ghagra cholis and decadently embroidered bridal lenghas. Namrita Chettair’s fashion line is based out of San Francisco, California and exudes an elaborate, luxurious feel—truly for the stylish bride who seeks to stand out from the crowd! The designer spoke a few words with Ayesha Hakki (Bibi Magazine’s editor-in-chief and publisher) on stage after her fashion show segment.

Parinaz Boutique, located in Cypress, featured a collection of elaborate ghagra cholis, one-of-a-kind shalwar kameezes, embellished tulle gowns, and a stunning tie-dye creation reminiscent of Indian fashion designer Malini Ramani. Parinaz also carries South Asian-embroidered batwa potli drawstring bags, which were carried by a few of the models on the runway.

Glistening clutches, tikkas (headpieces), and necklaces were provided by Sugar Land based A.R. Designers by Arefa Virani.

The 2012 trends for South Asian bridal wear include the use of A-line cuts, volume, and intricate embroidery in lenghas. Colors also take a more sophisticated route—leaning towards light neutrals, pastels, and deeper shades.
