High-Tea for a Cause

High-Tea for a Cause

Girls just wanna have fun! That’s right, beautiful elegant ladies in long flowy gowns, frocks, bows and hats strolled around on Sunday late afternoon for high tea at the Four Seasons Downtown Houston. The only difference, is that these ladies were not just having fun, they had all gathered to support the Connie Kwan-Wong Foundation’s sophisticated high tea affair for a good cause as she was supporting Kids Meal.

High tea is a very elegant ritual common in the UK but it seems like the West has now fondly embraced this culture adorned with hats and fascinators, thanks to Kate Middleton. The Four Seasons Hotel did a fabulous job in arranging different kinds of tea and the tables were set with scrumptious scones, sandwiches and petite desserts.

“The goal of this event is to raise awareness for Kids’ Meals (dedicated to feeding hungry children) and to introduce some volunteer programs where children can also get involved. This will help promote awareness that even children can make a difference in our communities,” says Connie Kwan-Wong. It was an intimate affair with many wonderful ladies from various backgrounds along with Natalie Bomke, the morning anchor on Fox 26, as the emcee, Ruth Burell, Director of Kids’ Meal, as the keynote speaker, Hanh Tran, local artist showcasing her art collection and hand-painted couture-style clutch.

Guests were mesmerized by dance performances by the Ad Deum Dance Company. However seven year old Ashton Kao stole the limelight with his piano performance amidst the sold out audience. Cindy Cheng Photography and glamor shots was a hit amongst the guests as the lovely Cindy herself made everyone pose for vintage portrait shots.

Amongst the fashionable lot were: Connie Kwan-Wong in a love gown, Sneha Merchant in a tweed dress, Mandy Kao (who was also the sponsor of the event) looked sexy in a black brocade mini dress, My-Lynh Nguyen in Alice and Olivia and Jimmy Choo bag, and Hanh Tran in a long black and white dress. Lights Camera Action’s ‘Fashionista of the Party‘ was June B. Xu. Follow us for our next story to know why we picked June as our favorite fashionista at the party.
