It’s A Jungle Out There! CAP Gala Hits an All Time High of $800,000

If you are an animal lover you should have been at the 26th Annual Celebrity Paws Gala benefiting the Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) on Saturday November 17, 2012 at the Hilton Americas, Downtown Houston. Some 620 glamorous guests accompanied their cute pet friends for this unique gala themed ‘It’s A Jungle Out there‘. The ballroom was sectioned into two settings, one side was dedicated to a wide exquisite array of auction items while honorees posed on the stage with their pets. The other half was a jungle themed ballroom sit down dinner soiree with DJ Brandon Olds spinning the tunes and live entertainers from the Blues Brothers to Latin Dancing. Proceeds of $800,000 hit an all time high for CAP.

Citizens for Animal Protection, a non-profit organization, has served pets and people in the Greater Houston Area for 40 years. Since 1972, CAP has sheltered and cared for over 500,000 orphaned, neglected and abandoned animals. Amongst Houston’s Ten Elite honorees were: Elizabeth Allen, Nicholas Altman, Jana Fant, Jeff Gremillion, Adrienne Harvey, Meredith Johnson, Kim Padgett, Erin Spencer, Kim and Dan Tutcher and junior honorees Karson Ludwick and Morgan Meynier. Each one of them looked wonderful showing off man’s best friend. However Jana Fant (in Cavali) with Fergie and Kim Padgett with Cassidy Marie, dressed in matching Chloe Dao originals, a first for Dao on the animal designs, they were certainly the show stoppers. While Kim Padgett took it up a notch by winning the Celebrity Pet of the Year Award.

Emcee for the evening Deborah Duncan was spotted in a animal print dress with matching boots, while many embraced exquisite evening ball gowns. A wide selection of auction items attracted the gala hoppers, for instance an exclusive necklace specially designed by Valobra and a Helicopter Ride/Dinner date with Texas Bachelor Kalon McMahon. Overall a fun filled evening with scrumptious dinner and dancing with many furry friends lovers.

Amongst the animal lovers supporting this great cause were: Susan and Dan Boggio, Knappy Muenzer, Edward Sanchez, Diane Caplan, Teresa Rice, Cathy and Jesse Marion (Malcher Humanitarian of the Year Award Recipients), Taft McWhorter, Gloria and Frand Meszaros, Beverly Wren (Celebrity Paws Hall of Fame), and many other prominent personalities.
