Fashionable International Mothers Walk the Runway with Lights Camera Action

It was a full house at Wade Wilson Art on Friday May 10, 2013 with fashionistas, upcoming designers, beauty pageant winner, philanthropists and other distinguished guests for Lights Camera Action’s 1st Annual International Mothers’ Day Soirée.

Karina Barbieri, Yasmine Hadad and Mandy KaoThe event started promptly at 6:30pm with plenty of SkinnyGirl cocktails and uniformed waiters passing hors d’oeuvres by Red Sage Catering, while guests mingled and enjoyed a live painting by Anita Varadaraju, sculptures by Ted Flicker and paintings by Regina Foster. The guests of honor for the evening were: Fashion Houston Founder Jared Lang and Miss Mississippi USA Paromita Mitra. A primary goal of Lights Camera Action – a Houston Media House, is to provide a bridge between the ethnic and mainstream communities, and the soirée was a perfect reflection of that.

Gabriela Dror with her son DavidEvent Co-Chair Simran Rihal impeccably choreographed the fashion show while the scintillating FOX 26 Anchor/Reporter Rita Garcia was the mistress of ceremonies. Lights Camera Action’s 2013 Fabulous Mothers’ walked the ramp with confidence, style and grace in the presence of a roaring crowd applauding and begging for more. Amongst the the fabulous mothers from various ethnicities walking the runway were: Azra Rauf, Gina Keith, Gabriela Dror (with her 8 year old son David), Mandy Kao (with her 8 year old son), Dr. Yasmine Haddad, Dr. Shelena Lalji (with her 12 year old daughter Zoe), Karina Barbieri, Jacqueline Baly, and Leisa Holland Nelson.

Paromita Mitra, Jared Lang and Ruchi MukherjeeSpeaking at the event, Event Chair and Founder of Lights Camera Action Ruchi Mukherjee, shared her vision for the International Mothers Day event. “Houston’s rich multicultural populace is very fashionable and it was high time we recognized Houston’s fabulous and talented mothers from various countries. These mothers are not just fashionable but very dedicated to various community and charity driven activities,” says Ms Mukherjee, who was born and raised in India.

During the award ceremony Jared Lang expressed that it was his honor to be able to recognize such an amazing group of exceptional women in the community. “Everyone’s commitment as mothers is truly inspiring,” says Jared.

Shehla Rana and Ruchi MukherjeeRuchi Mukherjee flaunted a summer inspired one shoulder flower long gown designed by up and coming Houston based designer, Shehla Rana.

Everyone looked stunning at this ‘invite only’ party that hosted A-List guests. Flaunting the summer sexy trends were: Naureen Malik, Teresa Reading, Varda Yerouham Dror, Jeff Gremillion, Daniel Dror, Sneha and Naushir Merchant, Lulu Saijari, Toni and Howard Tate, Dr. Vanitha Pothuri, Shanthi Rubin, Shubhra Ramineni, Magen Pastor, Hanh Tran, Paula A Mott, Josephine Firat, Sippi and Ajay Singh, Pradeep Rihal, Kim Padgett, Mon Venin Gals Gabriella and Nadia, Miya Shay and Gene Wu, and many others. The evening was also supporting the The American Cancer Society.

The first 50 guests went home with a goodie bags filled with plenty of discount cards from skincare deals, clothing boutiques and hair style discounts and a book ‘I Am Woman’ by Dr. Shelena Lalji. Kim Padgett walked away winning the Connie Kwan Wong Skincare products. Overall a very impressive evening that left everyone eager to attend next year’s Soirée.
