Fashionata of the Month | Farida Abjani
Emerging Fashionista of Htown!
She might adorn Chanel and Louis Vuitton but her belief is that kindness never goes out of style! Says our Fashionata of the Month: Farida Abjani.
While Yasmine Haddad, Karina Barbieri, and many other fashionable ladies continue to create buzz with their fashion statements, one emerging fashionista has caught Lights Camera Action’s attention. Spotted at many South Asian events, Farida Abjani is new to Houston but her unique sense of style, always looking chic, pleasant smile with a very generous heart makes us want to know more about her. At the recent Asian American Family Services Golden Ball for the 2013 Luminary Ambassadors, Farida Abjani received the Most Spirited Ambassador Award.
While chatting at a tucked in restaurant at Neiman Marcus, Ms Abjani informed that she is a nurse by profession who feels very passionate about caring for people. She shared, “My dream is to create a place honoring life, love, wisdom, peace, power, beauty and joy and I am working on a project that will help make this dream come true.”
Inspite of very high stressful work, Farida enjoys fashion and wants to take out time for social events, friends and supports many charities. “These events help me make new wonderful friends and distract me from the job I do. It’s not easy to be a nurse and watch life and death everyday,” she says with a smile.
Her favorite designers are BCBG, Sue Wong, Pamella Roland, and Chanel, among the Indian designers it’s Satya Paul and Manish Malhotra . “I love Chanel because I feel its classy and fabulous,” she says.
While passionate about supporting causes for education, mental health, cancer or poverty Farida Abjani quotes Coco Chanel, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
