Ace of Hearts – Packed Event Donating $24,500

The Indo American Charity Foundation (IACF) threw its ‘Ace of Hearts for Charity’ event to benefit and honor its scholarship award recipients and raise funds for its scholarship program. The theme of the evening was a fabulous interactive Vegas Casino Night which took place at the Aloft Houston Hotel in the Galleria area. ABC 13 reporter Pooja Lodhia was emcee for the evening, and guests were treated to music spun by DJ Yogi.

Ace of Hearts for Charity (13)IACF Board Members and and distinguished guests presented several scholarships to deserving young recipients from various ethnicities and fields of study. The Foundation, which promotes education, family welfare, healthcare and general needs, has been serving the Houston Community for over 27 years. Eighteen students of the Fort Bend ISD were the lucky recipients of the Indo-American Charity Foundation (IACF) scholarship program that donated $24,500 this year.

Education, Family Welfare, General Needs and Health Care are the four pillars of giving of the IACF, a non-profit charitable organization that has been helping the underprivileged and needy. True to their motto, ‘We live here and we give here,’ the IACF has for last 27 years raised and distributed about $2 million in donations to different charities in Houston.

The evening was welcomed by Dr. Ramesh Cherivirala, IACF President who introduced the professional crowd of various ages to the Charity’s objectives.

This year the organization also introduced the David Raj Memorial Scholarship to honor former president of IACF who passed away battling cancer. This scholarship was given to Morgan Hardin, who like David Raj, is passionate about education and music. Morgan is planning on attending the University of Houston and eventually her dream is to become a neurosurgeon.

Overall it was a fun filled casino evening with games, several prizes, non-stop music and scrumptious Indian food by Chef Roshini Gurnani and Aloft Hotel.

It was a packed house with many supporters recognizing the endeavors of the Indo American Charity Foundation. Spotted at the event: Dr. Vanitha Pothuri (Event Chair), Dr. Kamala Raghava, (President-elect), Leela and Nat Krishnamurthy, Myra Johnson, Gayathri Rao, Atul Raj, Sayani Bhat, Harshh Mahadeshawar, Rita W Talwar, Pratibh Desai, Ritu Raju, Shuman Majumdar, Surendaer Talwar, and many others.
