Rawaj – An International Fashion Extravaganza for a Cause
More than 500 fashion enthusiasts from various backgrounds and ethnicities gathered in San Antonio mid May to celebrate the Rawaj Fashion Extravaganza to benefit Children’s Shelter of San Antonio. Founder Dr. Ayesha Zaheer did a fabulous job along with her supporters to bring a show that showcased international and local designers. This 3rd Annual Fashion Show Luncheon fashion show was a sell out with plenty of glamorous ladies helping raise funds for a beautiful cause.
The Children’s Shelter is an organization that provides a safe haven for child survivors of abuse, neglect and abandonment in San Antonio. Established in 1901, it aims to offer shelter, help and foster care with the goal to teach nurturing and parenting skills to vulnerable families and help families overcome crisis.
Texas certainly has a big heart and that was apparent from the generosity from the glamorous and philanthropic crowd that was gathered. A splendid bazaar with many beautiful accessories and garments were on display for sale. Gala emcee Waheeda Kara was brilliant in keeping the audience entertained and focused on the mission narrating a beautiful afternoon.
More than 21 vendors from around the globe participated for the grand fashion affair as they also got a chance to showcase their designs on the runway. The featured designers were: PKDL, Pink Chiffon, Sonar, Sadaf Amir, A.R designs by Arefa Merchant, Deewani Collection by Amina Hussain Pinky, Kendra Scott, Aura by Noureen Dhanani, Afsheen Mehboob, and many more.
As TV Asia Correspondent and Host of Lights Camera Action Houston International Society News it was my honor and pleasure to support such a wonderful cause and I certainly have to confess the fashion as extraordinary and I did plenty of shopping, but all for a great cause.
