A Fashionable Crowd Cheer for Houston’s Best Dressed Ladies

A Fashionable Crowd Cheer for Houston’s Best Dressed Ladies

Ten Best Dressed Ladies

Ruchi-Mukherjee-BW2It was in 2011 that for the first time an Indian American, Nidhika Mehta, made it to the Houston Chronicle‘s list of Top Ten Best Dressed. This was so appropriate as Houston boasts a sophisticated and diverse fashionable crowd. Many might not be aware that India has a very vibrant group of talented designers that have made a global impact and South Asians are one of the most affluent fashion savvy groups in the world. When it comes to big brands and designer labels South Asians are on top of it to look their best.

This year one such lady and Houston’s sweetheart made it to the Houston Chronicle’s Best Dressed list, Dr. Sippi Khurana, a Rheumatologist and Immunologist in private practice in the Texas Medical Center. Also currently Clinical Professor at Texas A&M Health Science Center. Her Fellowship training was at Baylor College of Medicine. Sippi along with her very handsome husband Ajay Khurana continuously try to help others. “We have always felt that helping others is a human responsibility and we take it very seriously. We will always find a way to help those in need and it will always be a priority,” shares Sippi.

What’s in her closet? Being Indian American lends to the need for a variety of clothes. There is a good mix of Eastern and Western clothes in their closets. From Elie Saab, Tom Ford, Zac Posen and J. Mendel. “Their clothes are effortlessly glamorous and figure-flattering while interweaving a modern twist to a classic design. On a local level, I am a big fan of David Peck USA and Dao by Chloe Dao. David and Chloe make your clothes fit to perfection,” she adds. At the luncheon on Tuesday Dr. Sippi Khurana walked the best dressed runway in Valentino.

In a ballroom full of noted officials and leading personalities in the social scene the 34th Houston Chronicle’s Best Dressed luncheon was hosted at the Hilton Americas Downtown to benefit March of Dimes. Ten gorgeous ladies walked the ramp showcasing their unique personal style and philanthropic endeavors. Guests were all spotted cheering for their favorite gal walking the runway. The designer showcase for the afternoon was Zac Posen who showcased his most stunning Fall 2016 Collection. Amongst the 10 Best Dressed ladies were: Stephanie Cockrell, Laura Davenport, Isabel David, Gayla Gardner, Winell Herron, Sippi Khurana, and Millette Sherman alongside Hall of Fame Mary Tere Perusquia, Susan Sarofim, and Rosemary Schatzman. Spotted in the crowd was Houston’s very own timeless beauty and Hall of Fame Honoree Lynn Wyatt, along with luncheon chair Dr. Yvonne Cormier, Valerie Dietrich, Neiman Marcus Vice President and General Manager Bob Devlin, Debbie Festari, Patti Murphy, Staci Henderson, Jana Arnoldy, Ceron in a floral GUCCI suit. Amongst Sippi’s fashionista cheerleaders were: Sneha Merchant, Mandy Kao, Alice Mao Brams, Anu Reddy, and many others.
